Porcupine Behavior

Porcupines are generally solitary animals. Some porcupines are arboreal, while others live in burrows. They are herbivores and eat twigs, leaves, fruits, and grains. Porcupines are nocturnal animals. They sleep during the day in their dens. The porcupine uses its sharp-pointed quills for defense, but it cannot shoot its quills. They are also very vocal animals.
